What is SEO?

SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization.

So what is it, and why do you need it?

There's plenty of books on this subject, and to get into any degree of trying to explain it all and how it works would simply take way too long, so I'll just hit the highlights here.

Lets just say that if you have an online presence, you need to have it done to make a difference in your business, and your site.

The most important part, outside of "on-page" optimization (meaning "on-your-webpage" - which is already included when you order a webpage or website from us), is "off-page" optimization.

Basically, it's Optimizing your website for the Search Engines. When you Optimize your site, you are making it easier for customers to find you by (hopefully) moving your site up the ranks in the search engines (striving for one of the first 10 spots, which are located on the first page). And you do that in part by utilizing the following:

Acquiring links to your site.
Not just any links, but links that have "keywords" describing your business as the "anchor text" (the clickable part of the link). The links should also be on a relevant site (or section) to whatever relates to your own business.

There's plenty of ways to get links. You can get simple text links (just a keyword phrase - ONLY) that links to your site (or webpage). You can search for places to get free links, or buy them outright.

You can also do double duty by hooking up with various online social media websites (like myspace, facebook, etc.). You set up accounts, where you link to your site, but also provide yet another place online that potential customers can read about your business and check you out. The more of these you have, the better. It's free publicity for your business while at the same time providing backlinks to your website/webpage which benefits your SEO.

You could also send out press releases to some online places that spread the word about your business, and in the process, provide a backlink to your site.

Article Directories are a good source for getting backlinks to your site.

Then there's social bookmarking sites (like technorati, digg, stumbleupon, etc.). Tons of like-minded people hang out at online places like this. When you get an account at one of these spots, you can categorize your business which makes it relatively simple for anyone searching for what you have to offer, find you.

There's numerous other methods to do SEO for your site, but the above is a good start.

Now, of course, setting up a huge whole network like this would do tremendous things as far as SEO, however, it takes time to get all these different networks, social sites & backlinks done.
